First Day School and Child Care

Children are always welcome in meeting for worship!

Des Moines Valley Friends meeting offers a First Day School and childcare for the young people who attend. Although we encourage in-person attendance at First Day School we are set up to meet via teleconferencing if needed.

Together we learn how to live our Quaker values, support our F/friends in times of need, share our joys, study the roots of Quakerism, and tend a garden from which we donate food and provide for pollinators.

Classes are held from11:15 am-12:00 on Sundays, with the exception of the second Sunday of the month, when we meet at 5:30 pm.

Childcare is provided during meeting for worship.

If possible, please let us know ahead of time if you would like childcare or for your child(ren) to attend First Day School. This helps us plan for staffing needs. And remember, children are always welcome to join us in meeting for worship. We understand that it can be hard for children to sit for long periods of time in silence. We welcome the presence of children nonetheless. We do have some coloring/puzzle activities children can do during meeting and they are welcome to choose a book from our library.

We have a child safety protocol to keep our kids safe. If you would like more information on this, please click here.
